Most of the free books I read these days come from Book Sirens. One recommendation that showed up was this series of short stories. The concept sounds interesting but I'm behind on my current reading list so I'll save this for later. If you read it, let me know what you think.
Neuraides—artificial intelligences inhabiting android bodies or populating cyberspace—have become commonplace by the 22nd century. Filling roles in society from domestic servant to government administrator, they interact with humans every day. But like humans, the neuraides can encounter difficulties that damage their mental health.
To meet their needs, Doctor Doug Taggart opens the world’s first clinic for the psychological treatment of neuraides. As word of his practice spreads, Doug encounters many patients needing his help, including rogue game characters, power-hungry politicians, shell-shocked soldiers, and world-famous divas.
In this collection of tales, Doug rises from obscurity to prominence, exploring ethical dilemmas and perplexing challenges along the way. Welcome to the world of the Neuraides.
